“Houston, we’ve had a problem.” Those words from astronaut Jim Lovell of Apollo 13 perfectly sum up the dilemma we had.  For nearly 10 years, we were trying to take on a new client, but our efforts kept stalling out. This client needed large amounts of high-quality booklets printed with a short turnaround time and at a price point we just could not match with our offset printers. Of course, this was especially frustrating for both us and the potential client as we wanted to do business together but we could not make it work with the existing printing capabilities and technology.

 

We have been in this business for decades and we pride ourselves on be leaders in the printing community with our customer-centric approach driving our innovation and commitment to quality at the right price and time for you. We are always evaluating the marketplace to see what our customers need, to identify their pain points, and provide the best solution. So a dilemma like this one, where we can see the customer’s need but we cannot reach it, became a top priority for us. We were losing the business of one big client and if we did not innovate and change, we surely would begin losing more customers.

 

Partnering With Canon

 

We stepped back and evaluated the long-term trends within the commercial printing space. This took some time as we evaluated what you, our clients, need now and in the future, compared with what manufacturers were offering. Ultimately, we saw that Canon shared our same vision of the printing industry’s future: a very versatile press with near-instantaneous turnaround time and complete digital integration. So, in 2018, we partnered with Canon to customize a solution using the latest commercial ink-jet technology. The result was the installation of our new Canon ColorStream Inkjet printer.

 

What is the Canon ColorStream printer?

 

Simply put, the Canon ColorStream is a web-fed commercial inkjet printing press. Canon has long been recognized as the industry leader in web-fed color production printers and the ColorStream printer is a great example of their breakthrough technology. It provides top-notch productivity with high printing speeds variable based on your quality and performance needs. The ColorStream also gives high-end print quality using Canon’s own patented technologies: DigiDot, PreFire, and Inksafe to name just a few. The production flexibility allowed by the Colorsteam is also key as it can seamlessly move from monochrome to color and simple to complex jobs without missing a beat.

 

For us, the ColorStream was the ultimate answer for our production dilemma. It has allowed us to land that big client mentioned at the outset because we now could meet the pricepoint and quick turnaround they needed without compromising quality.
